Seal for Autohomes hi top

Post by Jeanie »

Hi there,
I don't know if I am in the right section but I am trying to find a seal (anything ) that will seal the gap between my hi top and the van. Does anyone out there have any ideas. This is the final piece in the jigsaw. the picture below shows the gap I am hoping to fill. Before it was just covered with duck tape but I feel after all the work that has went into her it would be criminal to put the duck tape back on. Any advice would be appreciated.

That looks one hell of a gap  Is it a original Autohomes conversion or a furniture & top transplant from an original do you know? The reason I ask is 'cos my Komet only has a very thin strip of plastic to seal the front of the hightop. How wide is it? You might be able to use a strip of window rubber cut to fit with some sealer along the top and bottom.....

mine had a similar size gap, and a bit of door seal wedged in there. Did the job but didn't look very nice. I ended up filling with tigerseal sealant

all the other ones i've seen seem to have a nice bit of beading along it, i guess our roofs were put on by the apprentice!

Its a 1985 Kameo here you can see it with the duck take on it. The guy thats restoring it recons we need about 25mm to cover the centre bit with less as it goes down to the sides.

Aye lloydy that looks better than duck tape. Was wondering if I could even get a seal from a bus. You would think there was something out there!

your bus has had its roof changed.

it would originally had an elevating pop top.

it does have an auto homes roof but its a later one.

I don't think that is the case, we have the original brochure from Autohomes and it shows the same spec for the hi-top Kameo. I have seen a few of these vans about the place same year same roof.
I tend to agree with Lloydy on this one, the apprentice did ours and probably on a Friday afternoon :D
