gearbox problems

hi all bought a van with a dodgy gearbox. i was finding whem i came too a junction and had my foot on the cluth but still in gear it was making a hell of racket like as if it was still in gear. question 1 is does anyone know what this is (its not the relase bearing) question 2 is i've bouhgt a replacement box but ive found that when i got them side by side the there different. it mainly seems too be the gear linkage setup( i have all the linkage). a friend of mine tells me that its a later box. going too put engine and box in tonight so im just wondering if it can be done or is it goin too cause me grief. (like the rest of the van!!!!!!!!!!!!)

sounds like spigot bearing was stuffed too

do you think i'd be just better off changing the bearing. thn what we talked about. are they available
