No not the volvo....No matter what you do to it , it still just keeps going. Its the bloody VW thing!!
On the Volvo I've changed all the service parts, re-made exhaust support, fixed coolant drip. re-routed/re-positioned airbox. T'is running much better but still needing to get carb set-up correctly/professionally.......Still keeps going though!!
Still love em though, (deep down!) Its not done too bad.....original engine for 23 years & 107,000 miles.
But loving the idea of a subaru more now!!!! Just need to save/loan, find time & a good EJ25.....Simples!
Why not just change the seals? Being made of rubber they are technically a service item and as you have said done well for 23 years, better than my washing machine, that really is a wasserleaker.
Joy of joys, I have a WBX head seal leak to attend to tomorrow, deep joy.

Wonder what time the head studs snap?
i reckon about 3.30 pm there will be a dull pinging noise in Honley followed by a call for a new engine.
