Didn't expect that!

Post by Essex Nige »

I've been using the Syncro back and forth to work (120 mile round trip) just to see how it runs and reliability, anyway last night i put 40 quids worth of derv at tesco, so i drove to work and on the way home i thought i'd stop and top it up with some bio diesel, the place is attended service so i said "just fill it to the top" thinking it was like my non syncro doka... i glanced at the pump 35QUID it was at   ... i told the fella to stop if it gets to 40 and it did.

So i take it a syncro fuel tank is some what larger than a non-syncro?

or does my 1.6 jx :trunk :trunk diesel?

btw ...do not use bio-diesel

If its RME it'll eat your fuel lines and all the seals in your injection pump. Plus it'll dislodge twenty years worth of crud immediatedly and block anything in sight

If it's pure rapeseed oil you'll need at least slightly changed timing, higher pressure nozzles and possibly some pre-warming to make it run properly

Some people slowly get them addicted to bio by adding 10/20 25% to normal dino diesel rather than 100%

You'll be very lucky to get the whole 70l in a Syncro tank, I never have, and unless ALL the pipework and breathers are 100% as new, then even at 65l some will come back out on left handers

I ran my old Transit on bio-diesel from an outlet on the A64 near York, cost me an engine
(they've since shut down I think - loads of York taxis got knacked too, according to the tow truck that took me home)

Never had any problem in getting more petrol in my Syncro tank than I can really afford though; since an "unfortunate incident" I don't let it drop much below half on the gauge and it still regularly hits me for £40 + at the pumps
What a long strange trip it's been
