hi all my heater fan is toast used the details in the wiki and hey i got a dismantled dash board info on there so detailed thanks to who ever posted it (can remember sorry) going to grease the wipers and clean behind the dash before re assembly, there 23 years of dog hair behind there, will take the opportunity to tidy wiring up and the earth crowns.
was also wondering is there 2 types of fan? as mine seems a little different to the one in the pics and i have seen the drill a hole in the bulkhead to lub the fan, but again my fan is different and .this wouldnt work, is there a way of opening the fan housing to remove the fan? lubed my fan and put 12v to it and it runs ok so hopefully on re assembly it will work
my heater fan stopped!!!!

Re: my heater fan stopped!!!!
Did it stop all of a sudden ?
If so it might not be the fan, might be the switch or summat.
Mine used to squeak a lot and as I didn't fancy the big job of stripping the dash off and all the pitfalls that may occur, I did the drill a hole trick = Worked like a charm
I thought all T25 heater motors are the same, I know the vent layout is a bit different on earlier ones, but I think the motor is the same and the "drill a hole to lube the exposed bearing trick" would still work - I stand ready to be corrected though

Re: my heater fan stopped!!!!
the fan was a bit squeaky the end of last year and when we went camping at xmas it was a bit reluctant to start up so i had to put it on setting 3 to make it start up then turn it down to what i wanted, then van was left for a couple of weeks when it snowed, then it just poped the fuses when i turned it on, took out the dash using info on the wiki and it wasnt half as bad a job as i thought it was gonna be. the shear bolts on the steering column being the hard bit! anyway cleaned the bearing up wd40 it overnight then re greased it and it worked fine. reason i asked if there are different fans is mine does not sit close to the bulk head so cant see how drilling a hole behind the grill would get access to it

Re: my heater fan stopped!!!!
In the process of replacing mine at the moment. It squeaked like a mouse with a brick on it, then finally packed up in wet Wales last year so I stripped it and oiled it, was OK for about 6 months until it did exactly the same as yours and then packed up again!! Currently in peices on my work bench! Having spoken to a couple of people they say there's only one style of fan in supply but two different housing boxes, those with clips all the way around and those without (.. like mine, a real biatch to open) which might explain the distance from the bulkhead
As for the shear bolts, file down the sides and make them fit an 11mm spanner, so much easier when you have to take them out again

Re: my heater fan stopped!!!!
i put flats on my shear bolts ready for next time lol taking out the dash sounds a lot scarier than it actually is. as i said above the shear bolts are a pain i ended up using a power file to put some flats on them to get them out rest of job was pretty much easy wd40 everything the night before if you can, i took the top grill (outside) and wd40 the four bolts hat you can see in there first, when you come to get the heater unit out you will see 4 pozidrive screws 2 each side of heater, the ends of these screws go thru bulkhead and the top two on mine were a bit rusty and hard to get out.so by wd40 it from outside makes getting them out a bit easier
