head gasket re-tightening....?

Post by boardmonkey »

Hi,

Would you need to re-tighten the head bolts are fitting a new head gasket after a certain mileage ?

Ive noticed a tiny ''leak'' on my 1. DG WBX and its only been a year since Id replaced both gaskets after a major breakdown...MOT was June09 and I had stripped down the lump and got both heads skimmed...

The leak is coming from behind the spalsh shields, and i can confirm its definately coolant.

I thought you couldn't actually skim the heads on
those engines or they won't seal on the engine properly

When you tighten head bolts to the correct torque that should be it no need to re tighten.
