First Adventure

Post by Essex Nige »

Well today has been the real first time i've taken the Syncro out for a run (sadly a road trip as apposed to an off road trip), so me and the good lady make some grub to take, flask of hot water for tea grab the dog and we we're off to Aldborough which is on the Suffolk coast, 35 miles into the trip DISASTER strikes, the engine just stopped, no noise nothing it just stopped, luckily we were near layby, pulled in i looked and looked again, i couldn't sus it out so out came the yellow card and i called the AA, 10mins later i got a call from a recovery company saying they was coming to get us... i was a bit ticked off at this because they never sent someone to have a look, just recovery :(

Anyway just before the recovery man came i had another look and there it was, a broken wire on the back of the derv pump, re-conected it the VOOOOOM, it started. The recovery man turned up i signed his paperwork saying he was taking me home, he was happy cos he wanted to to watch footy, and i was happy cos i could carry on :ok :ok

So for the sake of sending out a patrol van (which i have no doubt that he would have spotted it in seconds) it cost them for the recovery... there loss not mine

Nice one Nige, always good to hear little stories like this.

I always take a full set of tools with me, you do never know what is going to happen, and when.

Bought my first VW in Rowhedge near colchester, back in 1990. Same age as my present syncro is now, only the bay cost me 500 quid.

We used to go free camping up around Woodbridge, nice pub called the Ramsholt Arms down on the river Deben, and Shingle street, then back to Hertfordshire via saffron waldron. Happy carefree days.

Woodbridge is a great place if not a little snobby/cliquey :rofl , There's a yacht brokerage i love to wander around dreaming of life on the high seas, there are a lot of great places on the east coast, once i have a camping interior i'll be trying some wild camping along there :ok
