Sliding door Mechanism and parts

Post by T3TE »

He guys!

I recently bought a T25 in bad shape with the sliding door lying inside the van. I am in the process of restoring it. Now that the body work is almost done and the van is gonna be prepared for painting. I need to get the sliding door fixed and operational.

Since its my first T25 and there are hardly any people who know such vehciles, I need to know how can I fixed the sliding door onto the rail and make it work. There are a few parts there with the door but im not sure whats missing.

I would really appreciate if you guys can give me a list of parts for the door with pictures and assist me with mounting of the door.

Cheers!

Check this page

http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/1981/4/56/61485/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

you will need to register to see the part numbers and despair at the amount of important stuff you may need that is no longer available for early sliders

Theres some of the middle mechanism in the link below:

http://s834.photobucket.com/albums/zz26 ... ng%20door/

Top should have a square nylon block fitted onto arm welded to top of door. Bottom has a lump of metal with a horizontal bearing and a bearing at an angle of about 30 degrees.

Thanks Damien for the pics.

Is there any place where U can order most common parts for these early sliding doors? In form of a kit? And the inner handle as well.

Thanks.

Nope, most of the parts are NLA now. You can get bits like the bearings and nylon runner.

I cant find the parts locally..

Please let me know if any one has a complete middle runner, top runner and lower runner with all the tiny bits. I am also looking for inside handle, lock knob, all small rubber parts, bump stops etc.
