Hi, I have a 2.0 air cooled 1981 bus with an electronic ignition.
Is it normal to have a rev limiting rotor arm. I have bought a replacement from Just campers but I am not sure whether an ordinary arm would be any better.
Also can I run the vehicle on unleaded fuel without any additive.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Rev limited rotor arm
i am almost 100% sure all vans air and water cooled were fatory fitted with rev limiter rotor arms!
there are lots of types tho , limit set differently.
from memory a 5200 or 5400 is the one for the 1.9 dg but could be wrong.
a standard one will run the engine , but wont protect it .
usually saves the engine when you need to climb a hilll and have the van inb 2nd or 3rd for a while.

Re: Rev limited rotor arm
iirc aircooleds has a 4500rpm and a 5400 rpm limiter.
unleaded is fine.

Re: Rev limited rotor arm
As said above, if you don't thrash it, a stock rotor (as fitted to beetles and cheap as chips) is fine. Thats what mine is fitted with. The only time you might over-rev it is if you have a thumping stereo and forget to change gear and if you're unlikely to do that, fit a beetle one.
