Aye. Seat belt mounts on rear bulkhead are badly rusted. Fuel pump was leaking and therefore was probably held on by a piece of string. Engine coming out for new SS exhaust, therefore take tank out, cut out rust behind and replace belt mounts, new straps on tank and while we're at it, send gearbox to Aidan for checkup/rebuild and sort leaks.
All sorted for Germany!

Then 'just' bodywork and interior to do. (And the rest of stuff I haven't found/thought of yet - suggestions sought :))

While my tank is out and the rear seatbelt mounts are being repaired from rusting through, is it worth fixing sound-deadening blanket on the back of the bulkhead before re-fitting the tank, or will it create more of a moisture trap on a Syncro? Who has/hasn't got/done this and why?

mmm...stainless.....what exhaust are you going for? Is it just me being rubbish at searching for stuff or is there a serious lack of top quality SS systems with nice bends, collectors, silencers etc, and I mean performance systems with a decent turbo muffler that lets you know the motor's running nicely but doesn't sound like a "boys" exhaust??
