Clutch

Post by helen »

Had the seals go in the clutch slave cylinder after that cold spell.
Fitted new slave cylinder (well friend did!) so thats all sorted. However, the clutch now feels very different - feels like I hardly have any left.
Is this normal, and is it a sign that the clutch is on its way out, or should I not worry about it.
Want to make sure van is as ok as it can be before camping season starts.
Cheers
Helen :)

I changed my clutch slave and thrust bearing and the clutch bites about two thirds from the top

I thought to ask him to try bleeding it again - although it doesn't feel spongy - just not much clutch left - if you know what I mean?? lol
Anyway its in having some wiring looked at today - used it after they changed cylinder and temp guage didn't work - then the red temp warning light started flashing! Looked in engine compartment and found a broken wire - near where he's been fiddling with clutch, and this turned out to be oil warning light. Sorted that, and now he's looking at temp guage.
Hopefully its another loose wire - as when I wiggled one under the dash it went out again. o May have been disturbed when they were bleding it and adding clutch fluid?
Scared stiff of electrics - had a fire in dash in a car once, and would hate that to happen to Bri!!

While he's in there just get him to crack open the slave bleed nipple (7mm ring spanner), they often self-bleed anyway.
