I need to try and remove the thermostat housing when I remove the engine. Is this a bit expensive or a good price? £100 seem a little high to me, but you can't get them anywhere. it looks just as rusty as my one.

or a dj 2.1 one with the same split as mine, are they compatible?

yes they are but the 2.1 has an outlet for the oil cooler which has to be blanked off
what has broken?
you can still get the top
it won't rust ...they're plastic

Re: is this a little pricey if I break my thermostat housing
I need to remove the engine to have someone drill out the broken exhaust studs, I dont think my thermostat is working properly as the temperature is always reading high (although the fan does cut in when idling after a long run) and the thermostat housing bolts are rusted together and the thermostat housing bolts are rusted into the engine block like the exhaust studs, I have a split in mine like the one for £50 the seller of the one for a £100 said he would sell for £80 if I bought straight away but cannot give any guarantees it will work or come apart to replace the thermostat.
but I have found these for sale.

They'll fit a 1.9/2.1 but you'll need syncro sensors which screw in.

do the syncro sensors use two wires still, like the plastic push in ones?
------------
The great thing about knowing that if I break my existing one removing or dismantling it, is that I will attempt to do this which will make drilling and tapping the snapped exhaust stud much easier.

no the ends are different
one wire temp sender and two wire carb heater you'll have to change the spades on that.
I did it so it ain't that difficult
