scooby or not

i have been toying with the idea of a scooby for a while , because of economy and grunt

1 is it worth doing ?
2. Is TSR the best to fit it and make adapter plate and chop loom ?
3. what do you do about exhausts ?
4 would a tow bar hit or miss it
5. what mpg do they do
6. and will it completely affect my premiums
7. could i fit it ?

if you could advise me it woud be apreciated thanks

1 yes if you want/need a replacement wasserboxer and want a more modern ohc set up

5 low 30s ? depends on person behind the wheel
6 not much if at all
7 how home brewed is the camper ?

for the time being i must get the van on the road and plan to save between know and next winter . Do it
( went in a crew cab a week a go with a subberu engine in ) They sound so beautifully on tick over !, and thank you for your private message ! might hold you to some help fitting it because i don't no much about ecu's

might have to dig some pictures lol , i had to drive it i 3rd gear lol, it was the best daily driver for a while though i had my first bug when i was 14, and owned 13 of them and decided to build a good practical and reliable bus ! m then build a fast of road syncro and rat to hell ! , thank you so much for taking yur time to read the post !

RJES has a jolly good list of whats needed.. thats why Richard has been suggested..

no looking back once scooby in. When in you realise how under powered and thirsty the waterboxer is. had mine done for 6 months now and still puts a big smile on my face everytime I go out in it now. Do not use tsr as have seen some of there work and its interesting to say the least. Get the looma done by richard at RJES and then get all your other bits from him. Would recomend exhaust but at over £500 is a little expensive for some. Tow bar can stil be used no probs and mpg from my 2.2 is 29-31 and thats in an auto being driven like i stole it most places. Its all fairly straight forward to fit using rjes parts and they even have instructions. Me personally would never even think about fitting another vw engine in a t3, scooby or aaz diesel everytime. a little word of warning before setting to work, this route is not cheap good luck,

My only regret after putting in the 2.5 Subaru is that I didn't do it sooner !

I used the RJES bellhousing, plumbing kit, throttle cable, reversed coolant manifold, and the rest mostly Smallcar from the States. Did the wiring harness myself. MPG is about the same as the 2.1. The downside is this is not a cheap conversion, but if your a van freak it will give you years more fun with your van.

I am seriously considering it for the Syncro Doka.. but as its left hand drive and not a camper, I need to tie down the insurance before comiting to it... current insurance co (Gynwoods) reckon the ins co might not want to cover it.. yet Andy is with them though and he pays less than me for his rhd scooby powered camper in London...
