PUDDLES!

Post by hemispheres »

Hi there, got up this morning after a night of rain to discover a couple of small puddles on the rubber mats on both drivers and passenger sides. I'm assuming its coming in the windscreen but can see no proof of that. Is there any other points of entry that
might lead to causing these puddles? Its a 1990 high top holdsworth, 1.9 petrol.
cheers Jimi

Could it be possible that the weight of snow on the windscreen is enough to move it back slightly, allowing some melt-water to slip past the rubber?

I can say for sure that it aint snow, having looked again i am narrowing it down to either the screen wash jets or both front door seals. It looks as though its coming in at the same points on both sides which makes me lean towards the door seals. Are they easy enough to replace?

Your in the right area, there is a trail coming down from under the dash directly above the accelerator pedal and at the same position on the passenger side.
Thanks for going to all the trouble of putting a photo on. Brilliant!

I bet its the windscreen seal I had exactly the same problem and I found the seat where the seal fits had rotted through in both corners its a normal problem with these vans. if you can find nowhere else keep the hose runing on the screen and see if it drips through could take some time though if its not a bad leak. Hope you do not find a problem as bad as I found all the top of my van where the pop top fitted to the top of the windscreen rotted through and both bottom corners holed took ages to weld up so that the windscreen fitted back correctly.
