Your solenoid and associated mechanisms on the starter will have some oil on the shafts which have become colder and stiffer in this weather.
Take off starter motor and where the solenoid moves the starter motors clutch and pinion assembly along the motors shaft (where the cog slides along to meet the flywheel), give a good clean and plenty of WD40 spray to remove and thin oily deposits from this area.
Your solenoid can't move the pinion assembly to engage onto the flywheel and therefore won't engage the contacts to spin the motor.
This will do the trick and sort your problem!

Extreem cold weather will kill a weak battery overnight.

sluggish moters are usualy battery, corroded power cable feed from the solly, sticky solly ,earthing issues, poor connections, shagged starters.
they have no personalities or habits and do not respond to human affection.

Why I only told mine last week to pull herself together, it's just a bit chilly, so stop being such a drama queen

And i have never patted mine on the rump on arrival at destination and told her what a wonderful best she is.....no not I!

Our Dudley has decided that he doesn't want to venture out either.......it must have been the dreaded mention of MOT!! So now charging the battery charger and fingers crossed (very tightly) he'll make it tomorrow.
