yeah i'm made up having seen some pictures on here, when i was taking units apart there was a big piece of foam under the fridge which was wet!! (and frozen) so i'm glad ive got that out and there was nothing hiding under it.
ive got all my silver bubble wrap insulation ready to go in soon as i'm done sealing it all! :ok

any other comments or tips would be much appreciated!

Good work Posler. I had dampness in my van but very little rot luckily! :D Like you i've got the silver bubblewrap stuff at the ready and just waiting for the snow to go.

Do you have any ideas what you're going to use to cover the panels? I'm not sure whether to go for a faux suede or leather material or what really.

Keep your thread up to date, will be good to see how you get on and compare conversions.

Keep us updated, can't wait to see what you do with it! I've ripped out my interior too and am looking to do the same as you once it warms up a bit (vactan at the ready!), but have some bodywork repairs to get into first. I'm not sure what to use to cover the panels. I think I'll be able to rescue the doorcards from the cab and sliding doors, but the ones at the back were ruined. I'll have to get some more from just kampers or make them myself.
Watching with interest! :ok

(And isn't it fun to find random holes cut in the floor?! :? I just discovered a square hole directly underneath the driver's seat. No idea what the thinking behind that was - no wonder it's so noisy in there! )

Hey, spent from 8-11 this morning in scrapyards (in the snow) removing a Bluestar/Magnum (long plastic grey moulded) interior.

Complete drivers side interior from front to back with pop-up table
Passenger side except for sliding door

170 Euros all in all, cant complain after seeing prices on ebay

Got loads of other bits too, cant wait to start installing it all.

Chuffed as ****

So far i've stripped out the interior to the bare bones and set about a plan of fitting it out again. I'm going to go out for a spin at the weekend to see how much lighter she is, we removed loads of old heavy wood cabinets so she must go quicker now! hahaha.

Did you get your vactan from a shop or did you order it online?

What style of interior are you going for? When I did my camper last spring I used "Ikea" units which I adapted and a JK rock and Role bed which was on sale for £100.

Yeah the fridge was fitted in the space just out of shot on the left and the sink fitted above it , Then a built in a portable camping Stove with grill in the middle unit(above the double doors) The work surface (adapted doors) all hinges up to access sink, hob and storage cupboards.Under the R&R bed is my leisure battery and aux fusebox. :ok Mark

pocolow - I love the ikea units in your van. Do you know what units they are / roughly what they cost ya, if you dont mind me asking. Any info would be much appreciated.

I think it looks really smart... tempted to do a similar refit on our van like that!!

update 18/2/10

finally found abit of van time so ive put a temp floor in to keep dirt out, insulated pop top and ply lined

Image

and ply lined the rear of van using thin plywood (ive only insulated tailgate and sliding door so far) its already making a difference while driving (alot less noise)
