How much to lower 40mm?
I am going to view my first camper on Tuesday (Komet Hi top) and would like to lower it a little and hopefully find some EMPI's eventually. My questions?
1. How much does it cost to lower 40mm? I am not able to do it myself.
2. Should i get the alloys on first and then lower or viceversa?

Re: How much to lower 40mm?
Get your lowering kit from here (they are the best), and get it fitted by a pro, unless you are one
Dont skimp on them else you will be changing them in a years time.

Lower it by 50mm max (IMHO) otherwise you may find it a very harsh ride
Get wheels first may help, it deepens upon size of wheel/tyre combo you think of having.

Re: How much to lower 40mm?
Is £450 the going rate or is that just to buy the bits?
What is wrong with EMPI's?
Is there anyone on here who regularly does 'lowering'?

You can pay less, but it will be of poor quality and most who buy cheap end up changing it again with 2 years
Suspension is a major part of the van, get quality and be happy

thanks Kev
Which alloys look best then (very willing to listen to suggestions) if empi's look better on bays. I have seen a t25 with empi's on and i thought it looked great.
Thanks
Northants.

Re: How much to lower 40mm?
Alloys look cool, but chrome don't get you home.
Once you get the van home get it checked out and do the essentials like fuel lines and the like first.
Sure some one in the club will be only too happy to help for beer vouchers.
I lowered my van 50mm last year and canny belive the diff.
For details on alloys check out http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpec ... ltwhls.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
for lowering including how2 http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpec ... wering.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: How much to lower 40mm?
not 100% sure but I don't think you'll get a real nice offset with the EMPI's?(tho I cud be wrong, I am usually
) Mercs do seem a very reasonable alternative and are usually fitted to cars weighing almost as much as a bus. I have 16" merc steels on mine(just cos I like the retro stylee) but the alloys can usually be found with a pretty close offset and some are the correct stud hole size, so no drilling required
plus there are heaps of styles and the option of the wider rear rims as on the bigger merc saloons......wig

Re: How much to lower 40mm?
I have Merc ML's on mine

No modifications or drilling...10mm spacers, chrome nuts and longer studs all from Brickwerks.
As wigster says the offset is very close

Re: How much to lower 40mm?
WEHEY..
am right for a change.. yes the ML and also IMHO those big amg style merc rims seem to suit the t3, plus they're usually cheaper than some of the new less robust copies...we look after a couple of ML's at work and have never seen any alloys with problems, unlike the audi style which I've noticed seem less strong on the inner lip/bead (they hardly ever buckle on the outer edge, usually the inner unsupported part) am sure N,Yorks must be the 'pot-hole' capital of the world....wig

Re: How much to lower 40mm?
Thanks guys
Just when you think you know what you are going to do, another thousand options are put in front of you.
I understand the number of studs can be different and that sometimes longer bolts are needed but what is offset?
thanks
