I need to pick up a compressor fridge for my conversion and the likely candidate is the waeco cr-50.
Does anyone already have one of these and have an opinion on it?
Are there any alternatives worth considering? (something cheaper would be great!)
Cheers

Re: compressor fridges
I have a Waeco CF-18 - the smallest one I think - running from 2 x elecsol 100Ah batteries topped up with a 45w solar panel and split charger. I would highly recommend the Waeco

I use a Waeco CF18 and can vouch for their low power consumption, reliabilty and excellent performance, worth every penny! I think the later models offer the Waeco developed low energy compressor rather than the Danford unit bringing the cost down considerably. Mine runs off a standard 85A/hr leisure battery and will operate for several days when wild camping.

I like the look of the waeco cr-50 - not sure of the sizes but i would happily replace my 3 way fridge for that. They are similarly priced too.
Because i can only use camping gaz in my van, running my fridge is expensive - but with a 110A liesure that would run for two days at a time no problems.
Still, £500 quids worth of gas will run my fridge for 20 weeks non stop so it would have to be a very long term investment for me.
If i didnt have a fridge i would get this one....

Re: compressor fridges
Are there any cold boxes (top lid) out there with compressors? We've got a 3-way Waeco "Coolmaster" or something that came with the van but it's only an adsorbtion jobbie. You know, like a Westy multivan one. In fact, identical.
I'ts ok but this summer barely kept things tepid when the interior got as hot as a very hot thing indeed...and that was pre-chilled overnight, on the mains indoors with ice blocks from the deep-freeze!
Unless it's possible to retro a 12v fan to boost the efficiency a bit for now? Anyone done similar?
