Hi, have a look at the wicki, there is a section for new/prospective owners, the advice usually given is buy for bodywork as the mechanical stuff can be sorted (at a Price). Good luck.

There's quite a few (very random!) pics of mine on this page

The conversion seems ok (but to be honest I haven't lived with any other).
Fridge was an option originally (I fitted mine myself - it was just a big cupboard)
Normally has a wardrobe but I took ours out for more space in bed and better driving visibility.
Worktop is faced chipboard so any water damage would cause swelling.
Check bed mechanism works ok- it's very simple.

i have had mine 8 years nearly now, and its wellused and a little tired internally, it was converted in 1984 but still looks faily good , the carpet on the walls and ceiling looks a tad old now, and i have had to repair the sink worktop hinge once, but apart from that it is loads better made than the devon i had before it, and the units are made from veringer(sp) ply so wont turn to weetabix if it gets wet, but like Ck says the work top is chip laminated and did swell once, but at least the whole thing hasnt fallen to bits like autohomes do, and the bed is very comfy and not got the lumps R&R ones sometimes get.

these were taken a couple of years ago, not much has changed,

All looks very familiar, Steve!
I can see you've also added an extra switch or two for the water pump (my original only had a switch at the basic Zig unit - which is only a 12v distribution board BTW - NOT a charger).
Another thing to check is any leaks at the skylight - ours had leaked and water-stained the roof lining. Resealing with a good urethane goo is not too hard tho. The cupboard/draw handles can get broken and are not available new anymore.

Ours is a 1983 lesiuredrive hi-top too which is a good conversion in my opinion. In fact it's identical to Moki's and keiths barring the fancy centre table that packs away under the overhead locker

Look out for rot. Ours has a bit more than we thought especially around the drivers side sill but nothing that can't wait until that day that never comes when we have the money to sort it
