Re: Engine Battery what Ah rating
Simply put, the bigger the Ah rating, the longer it will crank the engine over before it starts to go flat (the Battery that is, not the engine
). Or the longer you can leave your lights on without the engine running before it goes flat, etc.
I would go for a 65Ah one myself as it has more power.
If you are using a Diesel powered van this is more important as Diesels take more power to get them started.
Check when buying that the new one is the same size as the one coming out as there is not a lot of spare space. There will be a 3 digit number on your old one and these numbers are pretty universal, so any decent motor factor should be able to match it up from that number.
Oh and if fitting it yourself, or by someone not very experienced, please be careful to connect the + and the - the right way round as it could explode and shower you with acid if you get it wrong
(actually it's more likely just to blow the alternator up, but still not good news)

p.s. - you will get shouted at by a Mod for posting the same question on 2 different sections, naughty person

Euro Car Parts do some good replacement batteries (cheaper than GSF and substantially cheaper than places like Halfords). If you have a branch near, go have a chat - they'll suggest a good replacement and probably give you a good deal on it.

As he says.....the important word here being 'CAPACITY'........ same volts wether it's the 45 or 65 amp/hour but has the 'CAPACITY' to last longer when cranking or just supplying lights/radio etc.
Dito......go with the 65 don't down grade.

I think you'll find a lot of places don't sell batteries on those ratings anymore. Euro Car Parts didn't but still found the correct one.
