ebber airtronic d2 help. update

Post by ..lee.. »

well with winter landing soon and my propex on the blink i need the ebber i`ve had for ages up and running. i`ve scrolled through pages and pages of tech documents and i`m still uncertain on whats going on with the wireing.

the d2 burner unit has 12 wires comming out of it to the connector but,
the loom supplied only has 8 wires exiting the connector. ok i guess the others are for extras i haven`t got.

and

Image

i cant seem to find any pics in the tech manuals on line that explain the wireing to my controll unit.

Image

and even though i`ve managed to get the controll unit powered up and attempted to switch the burner on the burner unit does nothing other than make a small single click and nothing else. i dont suppose having the extra wires not connected to anything is helping much.

Image

grey
blue white
blue white
black red
so can anyone help with either telling me what controll unit i have and where the extra wires go to.

thanks lee.

Ignore those 4 - you only need the 8.
Have you ramped up the temp. so that it is calling for heat otherwise it will only run in ventilation mode.
Are you running at 12v+ whilst it is starting - if it drops it will not start.
Is the pump clicking as it tries to start.
What is the fault code?
That is a 701 10 series timer/modulator - I have a manual for it if you need one.

ok, heat is turned to max, voltages are good at red wire, when i press the heat on button i get a very light click sounds like a small relay from within the heater body, the 60 minute counter displays but nothing else, no fan noise, no fuel pump click, nothing. pump works fine when tested. begining to think ecu maybe locked. just read that joining the yellow and red together shuold make it work, so i`m popping back down the garage to try that.

thanks lee.

ok still at a loss and whats worse i can`t seem to get any fault codes out of the unit. do the blue / white wires need to be connected to something for fault diagnosis to work.

still struggling guys. does anyone know anything about the self diagnosis system that i`ve read about with the 7 day timer i have. i think i understand right that the heater does a start up test first so maybe something is not quite right there and the heater`s not attemting to start for that reason.

here`s hoping lee.

Is the timer wired up as per the wiring diagrams in the manual?

i cant find a direct wireing diagram for that type of timer. i have 4 wires only going to the timer.. red brown grey and yellow and its wired like this.

red to red
yellow to yellow
brown to brown
grey to grey/red

most of the diagrams i`ve seen have more than 4 wires going to the timer unit which confuses me a little but also all the timer pictures i`ve seen are differant to the one i have.

cheers lee

Oldiebut goodie thanks for the timer program instructions .Question on the wiring diagram for the boat installation it shows a sensor connection wireing before the timer.Any ideas about the application & can we do without it .

That is for an optional remote air temp. sensor - it is not needed as the heater uses one on the heater itself.

well bit of an update on my ebber d2, ex bt model. it seams that the bt versions of this heater although useing a similar programer does not come with diag facilities and you are not able to unlock the heater if its in lock out. so after spending another £85.00 on a diag timer i was able to get codes out of it and try to clear them.

three codes were preasent 15 and 17 and 12 and they wouldn`t clear. was pointing to ecu failier but on advise i run some tests on the overheat and flame sensor and yipee overheat sensor was telling the heater it was 90 degrees when it was stone cold.

spent another £36.00 on a new sensor and now i have only one code that wont clear and thats number 12. still wont attempt to start so i`m getting a little peeved now.

seems i`ve been cursed by the d2 demon. .

Pressing the up and down buttons at the same time is not clearing the 12 code then?

hi rick, no the code 12 clears but comes back straight away. if i try and start it a few times then i get the other codes come back but they clear ok. just this code 12 persists.

may just take it in to the local ebber dealer now that its all wired up properly and see what they say. its annoying. fear its the ecu  .
