Brake lights only work when pedal fully depressed

Post by abercorngold »

We've topped up the brake fluid but the lights only come on when my foot is on the floor. What's up with that?

Hang on.....'only come on when my foot is on the floor? are you saying the pedal goes all the way to the floor? or just that the lights only operate when the brakes are under pressure?
The later is be perfectly correct! as these vans use HYDRAULIC PRESSURE operated brake light switches and not the type that just comes on with brake pedal movement.
On the other hand...if you are saying the brake pressure has to be significant BEFORE the brake lights actually come on? then YES the switch is cream crackered.
