Tail gate struts

Post by dubaroo »

I have just fitted a fiamma bike rack, and now the tailgate wont stay up when its open. I am wondering if its because the struts are just old and tired, and fitting a new set of original ones will cure it, or if not are there heavier duty ones avaliable? :run [/list]

Your struts are probably tired, get a new set of struts from Jokerdub, I can vouch for the fact that these are strong enough to smack you hard under the chin as the lid swings upwards, and I think they will take the weight of your bike rack too, dont think anything will take the weight of several baikes on the rack but some peeps have got copper pipe or the like to fix over their struts, when the tailgate is open the tube fits on the strut narrow piece holding it open.
