CB aerial mounting ideas
Just about to get round to fiiting a CB on the blue multivan we have - We seriously cannot decide where and with what to fit the permanent aerial for it! It can't go on the roof (it's a westy roof), anybody got any ideas?

Speaking of CB radios, Dave, Paul and myself are looking to get 3 sets for the Mammutpark event but we dont know anything about them. Can anyone advise us on what to buy. Nothing flashy, just something that works!

The midland ones are good because they are small and you can fit them in your ash tray hole if you want.

Re: CB aerial mounting ideas
We're going to get a tti 880 same as what is in the yellow one (safes on reading another set of destructions!)
It doesn't fit in the ashtray (we use ours
)
Not keen on the gutter mount, seen some body damage caused by them previously.
Not sure about the mirror mount one either, pop a piccie up Jed.
Was sort of thinking, to do the same as the yellow one b pillar permanent fix but trouble is how to get the cable in and discreetly?
No problem.

Re: CB aerial mounting ideas
Gutter mounts are made of cheese and fall in half if looked at in the wrong way.
If it were me Pete, i think i would go with Jeds suggestion. Ive seen a few mounted on the mirror arm and it looks good.
Using some thing like this http://www.4x4cb.com/public/item.cfm?itemID=1440
Presuming the 'other' van has truck mirrors of course...?

Re: CB aerial mounting ideas
This seems perfectly good for what we will need. What sort of an aerial will I need for that? Id like a mirror mount type.
One of these perhaps? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-SPRINGER-ANT ... 45ec664f2a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: CB aerial mounting ideas
Thought I had better mention that both my thunderpole components were badly soldered and fell apart while fitting them, also the gutter mount on one of them,broke off though metal fatigue when I tried to move it to another vehicle even though it has never had an ariel attached and was less than 18 months old.
I won,t be using them again.
