Starter Problems

have managed to remove dodgy starter, in terms of cleaning and lubrication what are the bits to do and the bits not to-

The solenoid seems OK and I have cleaned up with switch cleaner. The starter motor itself looks a bit grimy, I think the arm to the shaft may be need cleaning and lubricating - Is that OK to do and which bits and what is best to use, copper ease or molybdenum grease ??? same for the spring and cog ( apologies non technical )

Also the socket on the bell housing looks full of black greasey gunk, clean that

You dont want too much lubrication on starter shaft cos it just atracts dirt-spray with grease if you like-you need to check & possibly replace the bush in the bell housing the end of shaft goes into--if worn out it will cause yer starter shaft to wear--soak bush in oil overnight before fitting--

I know it sounded obvious, but not dealt with starters before, for sure you keep learning with a T25
