VW Polo ignition amp?

Post by tonytech »

Not the van, but my 1990 Polo.
I broke down last night, stopped at my Ex's and the bugger wouldnt start, (car not Ex wife)Turning over, but no spark.
The car is a late model with a Hall sender and Tzi ignition module (similar to a 2.1 DJ)
Haynes gives a fault finding guide , which sugests the ignition amp is kaput,
Haynes says replace Module and Coil. Is it really necesary to replace the coil? The resistance measurements are as Haynes.

Well I bought a new coil and an ignition amp from GSF £60.
Fitted both and off she goes. :D :D
I dont really fancy fitting the old coil to see if it works, as it might bugger the ignition amp.
