Sliding Doors- How many types?

Post by meggles »

Just tried to fit the new sliding door to my van. It's the wrong one!!!! :x It came from a panel van. It had the shorter handle, as mine did. Including buses, panelvans and campers etc etc over all the years, how many different types of door are there for the T25? I believed there were only two, am I wrong?

The replacement one (the wong one) I have is from an early panel van. Therefore do all the above doors which you say are "late" fit (apart from the fact some wont have windows). Do you see what I mean?

Hiya Keith, at 86 your's should be a late styleee, (no piece of plastic stuck on the outer door skin ?) I believe 85 is the swap-over year ?

Post a photo and we'll be able to tell.

I'll try to borrow daughters camera later (wife in Scarborough with mine).
The thing I have noticed is that on my van the pin which connects with the rear catch is at an angle on a bracket welded to pillar. Its flat on the A reg van over the road.

rear catch on angle plate is late style, short handle

basically there are only two types of door early or late chassis change is 1985 model year ie built after 1 aug 1984 with a chassis number letter F or higher

Thank you Aidan. Seems I relied on it being correct door by going by length of handle (which was the wrong one!!!).
Anyone want to buy an excellent EARLY sliding door!!!

That early sliding door you have there ( in good condition) is hard to come by , I was after one before I repaired mine and couldn't find one for ages, people would just laugh at me when I said I was looking for one and then when I did the bloke wanted £300 for it . I'd eBay it , I think you'd get a good price for it :ok

Thanks Ben. Don't know what do really. Had 2 offers so far. (Much less than £300  ). I'll have to give it some thought. The fact I put some rustoleum on it might put people off. Think I might swap it for a complete Transhite campervan

Im currently tempted to do the sliders on an exchange basis, but 8 different ones with big price tags dont help!

Having had half an eye out for a decent early slider for a while I'd say £300 is top end for a mint caravelle one with sliding window, panel van ones go for quite a bit less, in fairness probably worth a bit more than a tailgate though Keith

Obviously I want best deal I can get. At the end of the day (hate that expression) I just want what's best for me, ie a good slider for my LATE van! I also need other parts after being "ripped off". Never again  That's why I am taking my time! Thanks for all advice and offers so far.
Mike_gee32 Thanks for your honesty!
