Post by hex »

hey guys new to the forum, could one of you very kind people help me out, i have a 84 1.6 diesel t25 and the heating went about 9 mouths ago, i know i sould have fixed it then and there but i dont feel the cold and there for couldnt be bothered, but, now its time to sell and its an ugle thing to say on ebay, that with winter riding are ass that the heaters not working, at first i thought it was just the heater pod, but when i looked at it it confused the hell out of me as there are 2 pipe into the pod but neither come from the engine, one comes from uder mid van e.g like the fuel tank kind of area, and the other goes into the van on the drives side (or were the driver should be my vans lhd) behind the seating area, were the seat belts are fixed, am i missing somthing here, ill admit that iv never had to fix the heating befor and kind of thought that the hole thing ran on magic, but now very confused as it dosnt seem to make senses at to were the pipes are going. the pipe into the van is missing (the one thats like a foot long) yes i hear you all crying well no wounder the heating isnt working but iv worked that out by my self but im not going to bother replacing it if it turns out there is a more expencive problem i can buget for. so does anyone out there know what the hell is going on with my heating, even if someone can explain were the pipes are going i maybe able to work it out myself, thanks alot guys.

Hex,,,,,,are you talking about the cab (front) heater not working ? If so are the heater control cables operating the flaps properly ( have you checked these ), or even are the pipes going to it getting hot ?

Also is the temperature gauge on the dash working ?

Have you tried replacing the thermostat on the engine. ?

Regards

i think we might need some pix to help you.
the heater in the dash is powered by the engine.
the pipes enter the van near the gearstick.

are you talking about a rear heater?

hey guys yeah im talking about the cab heater, the temp gauge works fine, i havnt tried changing the thermostate yet and as far as i know the cables behind the dash are all working ok, the pod that opens to let the hot air into the pipes is opened by a cable right?, which is what i thought, but should it have wires going into it?, e.g does it have some electrical components.
thanks alot guys

p.s iv tried to feel heat on the pipe lines in and out but theres none, so im gueseing thats evidence that the thermostates not working right?
