Losing power uphill

Post by JaneH »

Got a 1600 petrol T25.
Just got back from run around and on the home stretch - uphill - lost power and stalled, luckily no one behind. Managed to get it started and limped back after 3-4 attempts. Last attempt took several goes to turn over.
Any ideas anyone?
:(
thanks,
Jane

Check all the vacuum hoses are connected..one could have popped off..
Do you normally go up that hill ok?
Other things could be fuel filter mucky, Cr*p in the carb, Fuel pump?
Check um out

Must have been some other signs things were not as they were, what did the engine sound like etc?

Aircooled I take it? All comes down to petrol and spark. Check all electrical connections battery and HT leads. check vacuum hoses (inluding balance pipe if you have dual carbs.) Change the following to eliminate them petrol/air filter, HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm, spark plugs. check points and timing. one of them should get it fixed.

if a aircold looses power it could mean overheating -
could also be fuel filter blocked, partially......
if its ok when cold, it may well have been overheating.

Loss of power

Post by Tex Ritter »

Fuel starvation?

Had a Fiat did that from time to time, turned out to be crud in the carb/engine block breather hose being sucked up from trying to get past 60mph on an extended run.
