I've read the Wiki on how to remove fridge, so I might just summon the bravery (and time) to do it. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get the fridge fixed up. Prefer West or Midlands (I'm in Cheltenham), but I travel quite a bit so other areas might be OK.
Cheers, Dom.

How do you mean "fixed up"? If you mean a service, there's not a lot to service as there's no moving parts - the ignition and gas outlet could probably do with a clean but other than that there's not much you can do other than leave it upside down overnight to give the 'goo' a good mix up.

Re: Fridge service/parts
I don't really know how fridges work so I guess I just want it checked over. It has never been used since I've had the van (about 7 years!) I don't know if the previous owners used it, so I just thought it should be checked through. I know I tried to get it running on gas and it would not light so I guess thats just an igniter. Should I just remove it and just check it runs all 3 ways? Give it a clean up......

You know , your best bet would be to hit the search button above.
There is a lot of really useful imformation in previous posts........if you spend some time trawling through it , you'll find everything you would ever want to know about three way fridges!

How it works http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absorption_refrigerator" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Leave it for a good few hours after turning it the right way up again to give the 'goo' a chance to run back to the bottom before trying it. I assume you haven't tried it on electric yet?
That's a long time doing nothing. The 'goo' will have been undisturbed for that long so a good mix up will probably do it the world of good. Take it out and turn it upside down for 24 hours.domiles1 wrote:It has never been used since I've had the van (about 7 years!)
Could be several things. As it hasn't been used I doubt there will be any residual gas remaining in the pipe so it will take some time for the gas to get through from the bottle. Also (again due to lack of use) the area around the spark electrode may just be clogged up with general crap and the gas outlet may be obstructed. I'd whip the bugger out, clean it to within an inch of it's life and turn it upside down.domiles1 wrote:I tried to get it running on gas and it would not light so I guess thats just an igniter. No, I haven't tried it on mains yet. I'll plug the van into the mains (for the first time since I've had the van!) tomorrow (fire extinguisher at the ready), and see if the fridge works.
