Heater.... should it do cool air..

Post by purplecrocs »

The heating/ventilation in my t25 only seems to want to give me warm air or hot air... which makes it a bit uncomfortable when its hot outside! Should it be able to blow cold air through...any idea whats stopping it? I have to say the 4 levers are a bit confusing too... what do they all do? I know one makes it go from warm to hot (which i assume should be cold to hot) and one diverts it to the windscreen or the footwell...

Yes I had all that malarky! What you need to do is find the cable that goes to the heater water feed control valve and reset the wire clamp so that the valve hits the stop before the lever runs out of movement. Don't overdo it though as you may not have enough heat when the winter arrives. Damned complicated set of controls (3 in my case) if you ask me as I spend half my jouney in the winter getting the right heat setting and they don't seem to do what the symbols say.

Top lever directs blow air to the screen if pushed to the far right, or off if pushed to far left.

The second lever from the top controls hot when pushed (far right) and cold settings when pushed (far left),,,,,,but don't expect an instant temperature change, it can take up to 20-30 seconds for the change to take place.

Third lever from the top should direct blown air to feet when pushed to far right and off when pushed to far left.

Fourth (or bottom lever) should control flap to rear compartment or rear hater valve (if rear heater fitted between rear seats)

what he said^^^

If your vents are permanently warm then the cable that operates the valve behind the spare wheel may have broken.
Remove the spare and check it's operation

great... so I dont have to take the dash apart to adjust the cable? I dont think its actually broken, as it does get hotter...or not so hot so I think it must need adjusting as Wolfie said...

if you take the spare wheel out from underneath you will see the valve that the heater control cable is attached to make sure it goes all he way to the stop like mentioned earlier. i've got the same problem but mines dripping as well. its the same as a golf one and you can get them off ebay if its worn out.

If you undo a couple of screws inside the lever bezel you can pull out the assembly on the cables and adjust he offending one by slackening the clamp screww and moving the outer sheath. that way you don't even have to go to the other end which apparently is hidden by the spare wheel.
Hope this heelps
