Gearbox selector

Post by jonno »

Hi i have a 1.9 petrol with a manual box

What size is the nut that connects the socket-arm/ball-joint selector to the gearbox shaft?

Should there be movement in this socket-arm/ball-joint if so how much?

Thanks

Jonno

If the nut on the selector shaft is loose then that aint good, do it up asap if you can.. (IIRC its a 13mm, but its been a while since I undid one)
The ball and socket are not one component.. the bush plate below the socket holds the socket onto the ball.. drop the assembly ans see if its worn, stick some thick grease in there and whack it back on.. before the bush plate retaining bolts are tightened up, push upwards on the plate and nip them up..
If its sloppy still its a replacement job I am afraid.. Have a word with Aidan, he may have some on the shelf.. but he is at VF this weekend, so pm/mail him..
