Black Heads

Post by cygnak »

evening all

Got engine now stripped, cleaning down and seeing what needs replacing. Cylinder 3-4 head was a bugger to get off. Anybody had/seen this before? Looks like its been blowing between barrel and head. I was expecting to have to replace the barrels anyway but should i be looking at more?

Thanks for your advice :)

Looks like it has been blowing past. We're the head bolts easy to undo? Just asking as they may not have been done up tight enough or even worked a little loose (this happened to me and the knocking had me going for ages!).
Should be ok providing they are all cleaned and torqued to correct setting on reassembly.
Mark.

No they were a bugger to get off. Came away from the block rather than the bolt even after copious amounts of plusgas. Got the bolts off eventually by heating up red so its quite possible they were not tightened down correctly in the first place.

Thanks Mark
