Oooh Quilt, definitely, and nice lighting, so it looks cosy on a rainy night in !!

Have you seen those airtight bags that you stuff things like quilts in, then use an airbed pump to suck out all the air ?
I guess a feather quilt would shrink down right small with one of those
(wanders off to fleaBay to check it out... )

There's always one spoil sport
Nah - anyway the (12v / fag lighter ) pump I got for my airbed is only the size of a tobacco tin and is very effective and the bag crumples up to nowt

Used to use a quit, but found it really bulky and the seat material of the van is a bitch itchy. So invested in a double sleeping bag, really nice and warm, I was bit dubious as I don't like been restricted in bed, but I just unzip myside and its like a quilt then. The lining is nice and cottony not shiney and sweaty
this is the one...........

More Bl**dy Expense
Well thanks, wife saw quilt comments and our expedition quality sleeping bags are now defunkt in favour of a quilt. Feathers out though and she is asthmatic - not nice waking up to a stiff, cold, blue wife - kinda makes the quilt a little less cosy in the mornings!!

I take my quilt, four pillows and an egyptian cotton sheet even if I'm only going on my own. I can't believe it takes up more room than two sleeping bags of the same insulating properties (the quilt on it's own that is, the pillows et al are my luxury). In fact given a stuff sack I reckon my double quilt will pack into only slightly bigger than a decent sleeping bag.
There must be a decent artificial eqivelant to down, is it not used in quilts?
