Front to Rear water pipes, different sizes?

Post by meggles »

Does anybody know if there are different sized pipes for the front to rear plastic cooling pipes running to and from the radiator. By this I mean is, for example, the diesel engined one a different size to the petrol ones. Or maybe the different sized petrol engined ones are different. Or maybe they changed over the years? Anybody shed any light on this. It will answer a very niggling question for me re: the hoses!
I don't need to know the sizes etc, just if there were some differences.
Thanks

Some earlier vans had smaller diameter metal pipes. 32mm I think. I think the later plastic pipes are 38mm. I don't know which models or ages had what. You can get sleeves to fit larger rubber hoses over the smaller metal pipes. Made by Gates available from car builder solutions if that helps.

Thanks you two, exactly what I needed to hear. Problem, or rather head spinning uncertainty, sorted! Answered my question precisely. :ok
Seems like yet a further bodge on my van. Easily sorted now though!

diesel ones are shorter than petrol ones , not by a great deal, but shorter all the same.
early one are metal , later ones plastic.
on my old petrol van i changed the metal ones for diesel plastic ones, without removing the petrol tank !

steve,i thought there was a bracket above the tank that holds the pipes.how did you get around that.
