electrikery confused

Post by TOMMY THE CAT »

Left a light on so wiped out aux battery so took itthe batt off the van for a good charge... now there is a lot of wiring left over from prev owner which some I've left as I need to work out what it is . Now I put in the split charge relay correct to the wiring diagram.and everything has bee fine... now with the engine running my lights in the van (aux) flipping work......I think I have discovered a new free source of electricity.
I thought that I was ok with electrics!

do you mean the aux lights (wired to the leisure battery) work with the engine running but the leisure battery out?

They will, once the split charge relay has been triggered (when the charge light goes off) the positive of the normal battery and the positive clamp for the leisure battery will be joined, so anything running off the leisure battery will receive power.

Be very carefull these wires don't touch a grounding point (body work)
