No need to be embarrassed about a little thing like that on 80-90. Five years ago I blew my old inverter up getting the wires the wrong way round and I'm a sparkie..........old korky wrote:could be,but never dare show my face at a meet.
Admittedly other member's do point at me and giggle but I don't think that's got anything to do with the inverter.........

My neighbour, (Ex Army Major and an unpheasant plucker) paid around £30,000 for a Porsche 993 which he allows to sit until the battery goes flat.
I happened to be nearby when he stuck some jump leads on it from a fully charged battery but he had got them reversed of course.
I saw the flash and yelled at him to get them disconnected, and he got away with no damage. I often wish now that I had kept my mouth shut.

not as bad as the fella who gave his engine a flush out with water... then ran it to mix it up.
I kid you not
me ... I tried to fill the engine up with oil.. as it ran out the sump...

I've been told since that my battery must have been totally flat because there were no sparks as you normally get, this allowed the battery to change polarity.(by the way there is no + or - on the clips, the charger is now in the bin)
