What the? Alu disc under rear sus spring? 16"
I was de-caking the mud around the rear sus when an aluminium disc (it's that badly corroded it's difficult to distinguish as very little of it is left) dropped off. I think it dropped off from between the trailing arm and the bottom of the coil spring? Is/was this some form of spacer? If so, was it standard for a 16"?

If your van is a TD then you should have a spacer of about 12mm thick.
If your van is a petrol and has a factory fitted wheel carrier there should be a spacer about 6mm thick.

Hi Russ,
Firstly, thanks for the reply. It's a 2.1i Doka, so the spacer looks like it's closer to 6mm thick (or it started life that thick). Not too clear what the relevance is of a 'factory fitted wheel carrier'? Probably being a bit thick as the Doka is a new project for me.
Ps Great vids on youtube! Any update on the SyncroNutz projects or are you gonna keep teasing us???

I happen to have a brand new set the 16" thin spacers... Noe I aint sure if they are here in the UK at the min though... I have a feeling they are in the spares drawers in France..
IIRC Aidan said I had the last set of "thins" and TD spacers from VW...

Thanks for the Project Pic
Back to the question...If they aint for sale anymore has anyone got a drawing? Or is it literally just a 6mm thick disc with a hole in the middle for location on the trailing arm?

Ay up folks,
I'm back on garage duty and I'm still missing a pair of aluminium spacers (between rear coil and trailing arm) for my petrol Doka.
Any of you good folks have a good pair for sale? Or is it easier to make a pair up minus the locator for the pig tail?

FYI I have a set of TD spacer plates new unused in stock which can be patterned for reproduction if anyone wants to, they are not for sale though as they may get used on the buggy project

Are the spacers a push fit? Want to get mine off tonight and don't want to make a pigs ear of it. They are fairly well crusted on at the mo

Re: What the? Alu disc under rear sus spring? 16"
I did do a little investigation into machining the pigtail groove into spacers a while back, but used the findings to make a basic press tool to put the groove into spring pan repair plates instead.
I could make a small batch to order, but I won't carry any stock as Ali prices have gone through the roof along with everything else!

This 16" spacer thing, just out of interest is it this disc on top of the trailing arm that the spring sits in? I thought that was on all trailing arms..

Lloyd,
that looks like the ones I have on my syncro. Since mine was originally a JX/TD vehicle I assume that they are the 12mm spacers that Russell referred to in the initial response to the OP.

To all of you alu disc keepers. Do the originals have the groove to accommodate the coil pig tail or are they a plain alu disc?
