Leaky dub 2

Post by woodguru »

Thank you to all who gave advice and thoughts on the subject of my leaky dub, you'll be pleased to know I found the leak and the garage fixed it  however I'm not convinced it wont happen again, the leaky culprit was a short length of rubber hose which joins the 2 metal pipes behind the fan belt, it looks to me as if these 2 pipes should be in line with each other, which in my case they don't, this looks like it's putting unnecessary strain on the rubber hose causing it to split, question, would it be ok to bend the pipes gently til they line up, or should I leave it well alone???? :ok

I had a similar problem just before the summer and only found it after some time searching for it. I must admit the whole idea of the pipes and hoses behind the pulley is a bit of an after thought, but I just put it down to the age of the hose and simply hope I never to need to replace this ever again.
