Yes much bigger job with not as good results due to gearing, a normal tdi have ok ish power at high revs but can be greatly improved with a mechaincal pump, PD tdi's simply hate revs but are fantastic at low revs which you will never achieve with any modifed t25 gearbox.

good points are:
Much better economy than electronic tdi
No wires all over the place
More upper rpm power

bad points are:
slightly noiser
no idle speed correction

Just been offered a Passat TDi engine (need to check code tomorrow). It's just the engine as far as I know. Is this suitable for a M-TDi conversion or do I need more from the actual Passat?

I'm soon to have a new gearbox built up by Aidan so ratios to suit can be done then.

Just a couple of questions before I take up the offer:

# How much is an M-TDi pump and who supplies them (Russell?) ?

# My van is a 1.6D and I have a running 1.6TD in another van.
What do I need from them and are there any additional parts that are worthwhile getting to do a tidier/more professional job (e.g. Simon's AAZ bits) ?

Thanks in advance.
