Brakes not good

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this little problem!

Last week I changed both front wheel bearings as mine were pretty dead. As you'll know, this involved removing pads and calipers and reassembly after installing the new bearings.

Now I have myself a brake problem, when stood overnight the pedal will go to the floor. It gradually recovers after driving but this is not ideal!

Fluid level is good and when the pedal has recovered it feels good (not spongy) and since the system hasn't been opened I can rule out air in the system.

So where does that lead me? Master cylinder problem? I would have thought a leaky m/c would result in brake fluid on the floor or around it but it's dry and a loss of fluid in the reservoir...

Any ideas gratefully received?

The first thing I would be doing is fitting a new pedal return spring. This sits at the top of the brake pedal and keeps the pedal in the up position even if you have nothing else attatched to it!

Dare we ask where you bought your bearings from ? as there are 2 types for these vehicles.

It is possible to fit the wrong bearings and end up with the same symptoms as you are suffering from.

I got them from GSF...

Do you know what the difference is between the 2 types?

I just checked my GSF invoice and seems like I've put late outer bearings into an early van.

Logbook says first registered 04-08-82...

Anyone know what the difference is, and why it would cause this problem...
