How to find an air leak - top tip.

Post by SplendiferousII »

If your van is running badly and you suspect an air leak. then spray carb or brake cleaner around all joints or possble leak paths. If it finds a leak it will get sucked in and will temporarily richen the mixture and you will hear the engine note change.

wd 40 is a better option, carb cleaner can melt some plastic and rubber parts as well as flash flame in your face on a hot engine

also be aware that it may not change the engine note loads, you may have to listen carefully!

AND when cleaning carbs with carb cleaner be carefull and sheild it or wear goggles when spraying it into jets as it wil spit back out and if it goes in your eye it is NOT nice trust me i found out the hard way yesterday
