burning oil 1.6 td

Post by damongrounsell »

after about 1600 miles the 1.6 td needed about 1.5 litlres to bring to the top of the dip stick, I'm pretty sure shes burning the oil and not leaking eother into water or out of engine since no smell of oil buring when hot in engine and no oil in water or on drive. I was thinking that it seems likely the piston rings may have lost there seal, how would I check this and how much should the remidy cost at a gargae, pulling the engine out does seem like something I could do never mind open up the engine, is reboring a common job on 1.6 td's?
Any information would be much appreciated

Is it smoking alot, I would have thought if the piston rings were gone it would smoke more but I am no expert.

I am hoping you may be able to help me. My 1.6TD is making a ticking noise when I accelerate and was wondering if yours does this.
