Front brake calipers - replace or kit?

Post by Johnmck »

Hi got 1980 2 lt a/c Girling front calipers. Van failed MOT on front brakes not releasing. Got one caliper off and poped pistons out.
Don't look too bad bit of scoring, question is I think you can get a repair kit for all the seals etc but am i better off replacing calipers?
What is acceptable wear on the pistons?
repair kit about £12 JK and calipers I am being quoted about £40 plus vat

Anybody had ythisd problem?
Thanks John

Brakes aren't an area to go skimping on.
