Electric windows won't budge!!

Post by KarlT »

Hi all

T25 87' caravelle

Electric windows.......They've got power.....I've redone the earth........Think the switch is good/checked connections.

Drivers doesn't move at all.....Passengers moves down abit but then stops & will only go up stop/start....stop/start. :(

Whats the chances of them both dying..........although they have never worked since I've owned it....so I guess they could have died 10 years apart for all I know

Has anyone got any advice on where to look next?

Mine didn't - and tbh, they're very hit and miss now, although Scoobydrew Andy opened and shut the passenger one using the passenger switch before I had chance to say "nooooooo" (which had never worked but has been replaced with a new motor). I think they get all gunged up and if you strip the door and play with them 'up and down' for about a million hours you may find that they'll work again - but DO NOT do it when you are camping and it's March/April - just in case......

Also - the motors don't half suck the juice out of the battery, so be warned.... :D

I bid you farewell.......for now.......

strip the door cards and furniture

find the bit that looks like a cross between a Ammonite and a self wind back washing line thingy you get from argos for a tenner

feeling the underside you should find a gap in the casing

in here theres the wires that push the window up and down...

spray that mofo thru that gap with wd41 or spray greese....
keep doing till it gets easyier, using grunt and shove to get the glass ti slide

also, on the goldy looking syncro formally known as matts one of the motors was siezed, take it out and get pliers or moles on the spindel, and turn it right round (like a record if you're feeling camp)
bang power to it and if the moon is rising in venus, it cud be yr lucky day my friend

hope this kinda helps
:)
