rear brake problem

Post by tangalooma flyer »

I have a problem with my rear brakes in that when i reverse the van goes about 20 feet then stops abruptly then releases then i go another 20 feet same thing. I've taken off rear hubs and checked brakes [handbrake as well] all seems ok, my mate reckons my be shoes are slightly out of shape, for the sake of £30 quid for the shoes i'll give that a go. Has anyone experienced this before?

cheers Andy :ok

Hi mate
Yes I had this on an Escort after KwikFit renewed the brake shoes, they ended up taking the crap after market ones off and fitted genuine Ford.
There is something else you can try before changing your shoes; taper both the leading and trailing edges on the friction material, hopefully this will reduce/eliminate snatch.
