Hi folks
I am in the process of buying a t25 crewie off a friend, it has a 1.6 td engine linked to a 5 speed caravelle box and seems a little sluggish on hills.Great on the flat though .Is this the right combination of engine / gearbox as fifth gear seems more of an overdrive. Also what sort of mpg can i expect, it has a high top truckman rear box on.Im used to slow cos i drive a 73 panel van but i expected a bit more from the crewie.
Thanks
Nick

Re: new to t25 question
A 1.6TD aint to break the land speed record
but this chart should tell you what ratios were originally fitted and alow you to compare what you've got and stuff like that....

Re: new to t25 question
I'm no gearbox expert but think about it the caravelle is a 1.9 petrol you've got a 1.6 diesel I don't think a diesel revs as high as a petrol so its obviously wrong , But its a T25 who cares! if you want something fast go get a golf gti, Just buy it and enjoy it when the gearbox or engine pack up put something in that suits you
