alternator for 1.6TD

I might need to get an alternator, but don't know the part number (can't see it on mine) - does anyone know if there is just one type of alternator and if so - what is the part number please? or, are there several and I'm stuck?!!

Also need alternator brushes, would be grateful if anyone with a 1.6 TD could let me know the part number please.

depends on power iirc either a a 65amp 068 903 031D which is now replaced by 068 903 017MX ie exchange from vw or the 90amp 068 903 031R which is now 031RX.

alternator brushes are complete part of voltage regulator 068 903 803 DX again exchange

your local bosch dealer will be able to cross ref these against the bosch part numbers

there should be a plasticized metal label abour 2sq inch on top of alternator with the info on a bosch unit, if it's not there then it could be anything
