fuel guage

hi there i am having some problems with the fuel guage, for the past week or so when i have been brimming it the gauge only reads just over half full. dose any one have any thought as to what the falt could be??? as i have been juging the fuel levle as i do in my 57 beetle, (by milage) but as with the beetle one day i will get cought short if i dont sort this out.

As far as I have seen in the past it's usually due to rubbish stuck on the contacts/windings of the sender unit - failing that the float might be breaking down a not floating properly

The only other things are bad voltage through the sender or the wrong sender/bend sender arm..
It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!
