Bang then loss of coolant

Just driving home and stalled van. on hill so I let it roll and then bump started it for pure ease. There was a bang that sounded like a back fire and now I am home it appears that i am losing coolant - quite a lot! Cant seem to find where from though.

Any one have any clues?

Ok found it!

It was one of the hoses that was leaking a very little bit for last few weeks. It just exploded with a big gash - hence the loss of all my coolant.

it is the xtra long one that runs from front to back. Has taken me two hours to get it off, mainly beacuse the clips were rusted on and in the end had to cut them off with an angle grinder!

Now I need to get a new hose. my main concern is threading it across the top of the fuel tank. any tips for this?

or do you think I can clip it under the tank instead?

I am supposed to be going to Latitude on Friday so have not got long!

Tank down to do it right .... no-doubt others will tell you how they did it differently.

Taking it down is the easiest thing in the world ... it's the putting it back bit which is hard ... and even worserer is what you find while you're about it. For further info read the Wiki or your Haynes Manuel, my advice would be to make other arrangements for the weekend and waxoyle everything that doesn't move above the tank (paying particular attention to the condition of the clutch pipe and the breather hoses and grommets) and double grease everything that does move (especially the handbrake cable and it's guide).
